Morning Conference at Belfast School of Theology

1st May 2025 9.30am - 12.30pm

In September last year, more than 5000 global church and mission leaders gathered in Seoul, South Korea, for the fourth Lausanne Congress. Lausanne creates a space for world church and mission leaders to connect and learn about what God is doing around the world and engage in meaningful dialogue, prayer and collaboration.

In 2024 Lausanne published a key report - The State of the Great Commission which identified over 20 significant gaps in evangelism and outreach still to be addressed in a meaningful way as the whole church brings the whole gospel to the whole world. During the Congress many discussions took place to address these gaps as well as several keynote talks which gave insight into some of the biggest issues and questions those in the church are wrestling with.

At this morning conference, facilitated by MAP and supported by Belfast School of Theology and the Evangelical Alliance Northern Ireland, we will hear from some local delegates who attended the Congress, Laura Sanlon (Lausanne and Latin Link), Uel Marrs (Global Mission Council, Presbyterian Church in Ireland), Anne Baenziger (Praxis Movement, Ireland) and David McCullagh (Annalong Presbyterian Church)

We will consider the following gaps identified by the State of the Great Commission Report and discuss together how we can best respond both locally and globally in our church and ministry/mission contexts. The gaps/topics that we will be looking at during the conference are as follows - Workplace Discipleship, A Global Ageing Population and People on the Move. Further Information for all of the topics is listed below.

Workplace Discipleship - The Fourth Lausanne Congress—Equipping Believers in the Workplace - Lausanne Movement

Ageing Population - Collaborate - Gap 1 - The Global Ageing Population

People of the Move - COLLABORATE - Gap 19 - People on the Move

In light of the learning from the recent congress a pastor will share how this has shaped the mission and outreach in the local church he leads.

9:30am - Arrival/ Registration - tea and coffee

9:45am to 12:30pm - Short Presentations, Panel, Coffee Break and Discussion Groups.

Everyone is welcome to attend but this event will be of particular interest to leadership teams in churches, ministry and mission organisations.
