Join us for this event, kindly hosted by Pollybell Farms, the new demonstration farm to kick off the Soil Association's Field Vegetable and Salads Learning Network.
Pollybell Farm is an organic farm. This field day is of interest to all farmers and growers looking to gain a better understanding of how to grow at scale, while reducing dependence on artificial inputs and reducing cultivations in a veg and cereal rotation.
This event will focus on the practicalities and feasibilities of field-scale organic vegetable production and packing whilst operating in a wide rotation, supplying multiple products to different markets.
We will explore:
- How this horticultural enterprise operates within the wider rotation at Pollybell
- Reducing tillage and utilising cover crops to further enhance soil health
- The use of floating photovoltaics and irrigation infrastructure to enhance product quality and climate resilience.
- How a whole farm approach can benefit the environment and drive production in demanding markets.
- Investment in technology and the development of autonomous laser weeder.
Complimentary lunch and refreshments will be included on the day.
