Have you recently had maternity or neonatal care at Oldham? We are looking for new or expectant parents to take a walk around the maternity and neonatal units at Oldham Hospital with the local Maternity & Neonatal Voices Partnership team, to help us look at services from the perspective of those who use them.
We are really keen to hear from you if you are Black, Asian or mixed ethnicity, LGBTQ+, neurodiverse, have a disability or don't feel your voice is heard.
We will be meeting at Oldham maternity unit from 9:45am, for a 10am start. We will begin with a short briefing over tea/coffee. We will then split into small groups of 3-4 people and spend about an hour walking around different areas of the maternity and neonatal units, looking at how the space feels - is it welcoming, informative, clean & safe etc. We will then come back together as a group with maternity/neonatal staff to discuss our observations, noting what is good, as well as actions for improvements. Lunch is included and we expect to finish by 2pm at the latest. We can pay travel/parking expenses.
Babies in slings are welcome but unfortunately we cannot accommodate pushchairs or prams on the walk around the unit. You may leave your pram in the meeting room and walk around with your baby in a sling. If you need to borrow a sling to take part in the walk around we recommend getting in touch with the sling library at The Parenting Collective.
