About this event

Child-Friendly Business Networking ‘Netwalk’ Event in North Bristol

What to expect

The Freelance Mum netwalks are child-friendly business networking events, designed for you and your business, to make connections with likeminded women, grow your business, with fresh air and fresh thinking!

Where is it?

The group meet outside the Gloucester Old Spot (what3words: basket.ozone.actors) where you will be greeted by your Freelance Mum Fairies, aka walk leaders. Keep an eye out for them carrying the Freelance Mum tote bags and coffee cups. They'll lead your netwalk in the quiet residential area around Horfield. The group then return to The Gloucester Old Spot for their business focused activity. The Gloucester Old Spot is a lovely family friend pub, with a safe area for children to play outside. Or they can happily meet inside, around large wooden tables.

Parking

Look out for on-street parking, in this residential area. Or you can park at the near-by Tesco on Lime Tree Road, this is free for shoppers for 2 hours.

Accessibility

This route is on pavements, in a residential area, which allow for FMs to walk side by side. The route is hard tracks, with occasional ‘pinch points’ for bikes and can be easily adapted. If you have any accessibility questions or would like to discuss your individual needs, please get in touch.

Who can attend?

This is a business networking event for women in business and children are always welcome. You are welcome to bring your toddler/children and the walk will always be at the pace of the slowest toddler! You will have a chance to connect with other mums in business, grow your network and support your business.

More than just a netwalk

Before our netwalk we have an 'icebreaker' session to get to know each other and after our netwalk we have a chance to grab a coffee and hear from other women in business in '5 minutes with' or sometimes a session with a guest speaker.

If you can't make it in the end

Don't worry, we get that sometimes the best laid plans fall through so if you no longer need yours or your childs ticket, please remember to cancel the place, so another member is able to use it. Thank you. We can’t wait to see you!

Information for non-members

Come and try us for FREE for 30 days! This includes the netwalk and our weekly digital coffee mornings!

What else?

These netwalks are supported by weekly online Coffee Mornings, for connections and conversations in between netwalks. There are additional netwalks in hubs across the country, which are part of the Freelance Mum membership.

Organised by

When she first set up the Freelance Mum podcast and blog in June 2013, broadcaster Faye Dicker had no idea where it would lead her. With a one-year-old baby in the mix, she simply had a desire to connect with other freelance parents and provide a platform to encourage and support them.

But she soon realised that wasn’t enough – she wanted to meet up with other freelance mums face-to-face as well as helping them tell their stories online. Her second daughter was just 11 weeks old when Faye led a group of 15 women and their little ones on a facilitated walk around Bristol’s Harbourside in July 2014. It was a huge success… and so Freelance Mum networking was born.

Freelance Mum has proved so popular in Bristol, hubs have now been launched across the UK. The 'real life netwalks' are complimented by weekly online coffee mornings, every Wednesday, which together provide an incredible community for mums in business.

Today Faye has been recognised for her work with Freelance Mum and been listed as one of 100 most influential women in the west in both 2018 and 2019. In 2018 she won Freelance Ambassador of the year award and Covid-19 Sucess Story, for her work launching the Freelance Mum hubs.

She still continues to champion the way for fellow mums in business. Not bad for a mum, on a mission, while bringing up little people.
