About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours
  • Ages 18+
  • Paid venue parking

Get ready to see York’s newest co-working space in a totally different light. This May, Patch is hosting its first comedy evening with five fresh and funny local comedians.

In a past life, the historic Bonding Warehouse played host to household names from Jo Brand to Lee Evans. Today, with a revamp from Patch, it’s ready to bring the laughter back.

Join us from 7pm for a 7:30 start and grab yourself a drink from local brewers. Your host Katie Lingo will kick things off before we welcome some of Yorkshire’s finest giggle-makers:

  • Haseeb Malik: Part actor, part comedian, all-time charmer
  • Saeth Wheeler: The “rampant socialist lesbian the Daily Mail warned you all about”
  • Kenny Watt: Scotland’s best export of scathing current affairs commentary
  • Tuiya Tembo: Quirky, lively and brutally honest cultural observations
  • John Pease: Gilded Balloon finalist with a touch of Southern comfort.

There will be drinks. There will be swears. There will be laughs. Get involved for the bargain price of £6.50 and support York’s growing comedy scene.

Frequently asked questions

How much is the event?

Tickets are on sale for just £6.50 - that's an introductory price for this NEW comedy event and all proceeds go directly to the acts. You'll get two hours of laughs for the price of a posh pint. Thank you for supporting local comedy!

Is there parking?

There is parking close to the venue at St George's Field, less than five minutes' walk over Skeldergate Bridge. This costs £3.40 per hour or £3.10 for Minster badge holders. You may be able to find chargeable on-street parking on Skeldergate, or you could try Bishopthorpe Road and Clifford's Tower.

Is there wheelchair access?

Patch is completely wheelchair accessible, with a ramped entry and two accessible toilets.

Is there a bar?

Yes - there will be a bar serving reasonably priced drinks on the night, including from local producers such as Brew York and York Gin.

What is Patch?

Patch is York's newest co-working space located in the historic Bonding Warehouse. It's also an events space with capacity for up to 130 people to enjoy live comedy!

Is the comedy family friendly?

We would not advise bringing children to this event as there will be swearing and adult themes. As with all stand-up comedy, there may be some crude language but we would never tolerate any hate speech, racism, sexism, homophobia, ableism or other offensive content.

Can I buy tickets on the door?

We would advise buying tickets in advance as this guarantees you a seat. We will release an initial batch of tickets and then may offer some on the door on the night, however the only way to guarantee a seat is to buy in advance.

Where can I find out more about the acts?

All our acts are active on social and you can follow them on their Instagram pages. Find out more about host Katie at www.instagram.com/katielingoyork. We will be releasing teaser content as the event date approaches.

Is heckling allowed?

Heckling is generally not permitted and we reserve the right to ask anybody being disruptive or offensive to lead the premises. Of course, this is a light-hearted night and you are welcome to gently rib the MC or respond to her questions! Remember that stand-up can be very scary so please be kind.<3

How long is the show?

The show kicks off at 7:30 with an intro from the host, and then each act will have a set of 10 to 15 minutes each. There will be two comfort breaks and a fully stocked bar. Please note last orders will be at 9:25pm, so you're free to explore York for the rest of your evening or get an early night.

How do I get to Patch?

You can get to Patch by coming off the Fulford exit from the A64. It is a 15-20 minute walk from the station and accessible from all city centre buses.

What happens if I arrive late?

No drama - please just grab yourself a seat and help yourself to a drink from the bar. It will be an informal atmosphere, though we ask you not to disturb the acts as they're performing.
