About this event

The 2022 census recorded that more than 1.5 million people in Scotland speak Scots, with almost 2.5 million reporting some ability in the language. The upcoming Scottish Languages Bill will, for the first time, give the Scots language offical status in Scotland. But what will this mean for Scottish libraries, and how can we – as a profession and as a service – best support the users of Scotland’s ‘other’ indigenous language?

Please join librarian and writer Thomas Clark for this webinar exploring the changing landscape of the Scots language in the 21st century, the simple and cost-effective ways we can provide support and services for its users, and the importance of libraries in keeping this officially endangered language alive for generations to come.

Online and open to all CILIP members. Please register here to receive the Zoom link in advance.
