About this event

  • Event lasts 4 hours

We are a School Centred Initial Teacher Training provider whose work is dedicated to training aspiring teachers, across Leeds, Bradford and Hull & East Yorkshire. GORSE SCITT is an integral part of The Gorse Academies Trust, a high performing multi academy trust led by Sir John Townsley and Leeds Teaching School Hub.

In 2021, GORSE SCITT was recognised by OFSTED as being Outstanding in all aspects of its work. Over the last nine years, GORSE SCITT has successfully trained well over a thousand teachers across all subjects in the primary and secondary phases. The majority of these colleagues are now pursuing careers in our trust or partner schools, furthermore, a number of these colleagues have made rapid progress through their careers and now hold middle and senior leader positions in schools. It should also be noted that anyone who successfully trains with us, as well as receiving Qualified Teacher Status, will be awarded a Post Graduate Certificate of Education and 60 points towards a Masters qualification.

The Taster Day will give you the opportunity to:

  • Find out more about GORSE SCITT and the courses we offer;
  • Experience an Outstanding school setting;
  • Meet with current trainees;
  • Observe excellent practitioners in action;
  • Participate in a taster Central Training Session;
  • Have the opportunity to ask questions about the application process.

Our Vision

Working in partnership with the Leeds Teaching School Hub, GORSE SCITT will ensure that from the very first point of entering the profession, trainees are given the highest quality training opportunities. We will shape committed and passionate individuals into responsive, inspirational and highly skilled teachers. Led by experienced practitioners within their own fields, we believe that great teachers have the ability to collectively engender social change. With our outstanding ITT provision, we will improve teacher quality and, in turn, student outcomes across the region.
