Graphic Novel Reading Room

Graphic Novel Reading Room is back to the Treehouse board game cafe for a casual Tuesday reading session. Whether you're a regular reader or planning to come for the first time, all are welcome to this calm and social reading space.

Over 500 graphic novels and zines will be provided for you to read, mostly of the literary kind in all genres: fiction, non-fiction, science fiction, horror, sci-fi, graphic medicine, mange etc. It's a casual event: all participants can read their own choice of comics and there is no group discussion at any point. You're welcome to arrive and leave at your leisure, and welcome to read quietly or interact with the other readers.

The Treehouse kitchen will be providing delicious food, drinks and cakes as usual, and the amazing ambiance that we love the Treehouse for!

Tickets are set as 'donation' to keep the fees down, suggested donation is £2/hour in line with Treehouse board game cafe pricing.

Please buy individual tickets for each participant so numbers can be tracked.

Age guidance: 16+, those under 16 can attend with parental supervision

Frequently asked questions

Is there a discussion at any stage?

No, there isn't. Unlike book clubs, at Graphic Novel Reading Room everybody reads something different, often several books in one session.

Can I borrow or buy the comics?

No, you can't, as they are my personal collection that I share with people. However I can make recommendations of indie bookshops and other places where you can buy comics, and Sheffield Central Library also has a great collection to borrow from.

Organised by

I'm an event producer in Sheffield, running my own event Graphic Novel Reading Room and freelancing for other cultural and arts events.
