Green spaces from Braunstone to Glenfield

Thursday 22 May

Arrive 12.45pm for a 1pm start

Starting from Braunstone Leisure Centre on Hamelin Road, Braunstone, LE3 1JN

Finishing at Glenfield Hospital,Groby Rd, Leicester LE3 9QP

Up to 2 hours. 3 miles. Medium pace. Linear walk (one-way)
Due to the terrain, we regret this is not an accessible walk.

At 3 miles, this is a longer walk than usual, aimed at those who like to step out, stretch their legs and try a sustainable* journey from start to finish (see Travel section). This all-terrain walk will be led at a medium pace - a little quicker than most of our walks. This walk links Braunstone with Glenfield, via pleasant green spaces and a few connecting streets. Along the way we pass through Western Park, Stokeswood Park, The Orchards nature area and the fields near Gorse Hill, enjoying the best of our green city. There is a drop-out option after 50 minutes near Gorse Hill City Farm, with a bus stop nearby.

Our route includes natural paths, uneven terrain and a short uphill section through woodland in The Orchards, so suitable footwear is required. We recommend you bring a drink and snacks. We start the walk at 1pm. Please arrive 15 minutes early to use facilities. We finish at Glenfield Hospital at by 2.45pm, where toilets are available and a bus stop is nearby.
