The Early Career Geologist Award is an annual competition that is designed to showcase the talent and skills of individuals who are still in the early stages of their respective geoscientific careers. Following the preliminary heats, run by the Society's various Regional Groups, we're hosting the National Finals at The Geological Society at Burlington House, London.
The 2025 award is sponsored by SLR.
The event will begin at 5.30pm - please join us from 5.00pm for networking and refreshments.
Join us as we crown the Geological Society's Early Career Geologist of the Year and present them with their winnings at the geological trophy! Participants are will deliver a concise technical presentation on a project which they have worked to a panel of expert judges, with points being awarded not only for the quality of geological content but also the individual's communication skills in making accessible the science being presented to a wider audience.

What is the Early Career Geologst Award?
The award is an annual competition that is designed to showcase the talent and skills of individuals who are still in the early stages of their respective geoscientific careers. The event consists of Regional Heats, which are run by the Society's various Regional Groups, with the winners subsequently being invited to participate in the National Finals.
The award is open to all early career (<10 years experience) geoscientists in academia, government, industry and working elsewhere in geoscience.
