Violence risk assessment is a critical part of service delivery in health care, criminal justice, and occupational settings. This two day training course will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to enable them to use the HCR-20 as part of their clinical practice. Upon completion of the workshop participants will be able to:
- Understand the various approaches to risk assessment
- Consider when to apply risk assessments
- Learn to apply the HCR-20, through the completion of practice cases and case analysis
- Make recommendations on offence formulation, scenario planning and risk management plans
- Suggest key questions that should be addressed when making judgments about risk
TARGET AUDIENCE
This tool is intended for use with civil psychiatric, forensic and criminal justice populations. The training will be of interest to qualified practitioners (or those currently in professional training roles) who will be involved in undertaking violence risk assessments, including: psychiatrists, psychologists, psychiatric and community nurses, and social workers.
