About this event

Welcome to Hebden Bridge’s first cheese tour—a unique blend of local history and cheese tasting.

As we explore the charming streets of this iconic town, you’ll enjoy a different local cheese at each stop, brought along especially for the tour.

Learn how Hebden Bridge earned the nickname “Trouser Town,” why it became known as the hippie capital of the North, and the story of a group of local bandits who nearly caused an economic crisis—all paired with some of the finest cheeses the area has to offer.

A cracking way to uncover Hebden Bridge’s fascinating past, one cheese at a time.

Frequently asked questions

Can children come on the tour?

We find children aged 10+ enjoy the combination of local history and cheese. The tour does have some steep paths, so isn't ideal for prams.

Where do we eat the cheese?

During our walk, we'll stop at different points of interest and try some local cheeses. Each cheese comes from a nearby delicatessen and we'll eat them as we go along our path (not in a cheese shop). We'll keep the cheese fresh in an insulated backpack.

Is the tour accessible?

Along the route, we will take stairs and the canal path, so it is sadly not accessible for wheelchair users. If you'd like to come on the tour please email us and we may be able to arrange an alternative.

What is your refund policy?

We buy fresh cheese for each tour, so refunds or swapping tickets to other tours will only be offered 48 hours in advance.

How far will we walk?

The total route is about 1.5 miles and takes about 1hr 20 to get around.
