How to Restore Wooden Furniture Workshop for Beginners

What You’ll Learn

In this hands-on furniture restoration workshop, you'll go beyond the surface-level and learn the full process of reviving wooden furniture the right way.

Working in small groups of no more than 4 people, you'll receive close guidance and learn at your own pace. We’ll explain not just how to do each step, but why it’s essential—giving you the confidence and skills to continue upcycling on your own.

You’ll restore a wooden item provided by us, following a complete step-by-step process that includes:

• Sanding in stages with different grits of sandpaper to remove old finishes and smooth the surface
• Staining to bring out the natural grain and tone of the wood
• Sealing with an appropriate finish to protect and preserve your work
• Finishing touches to give your piece a professional look

Along the way, you'll learn:

• How to choose and correctly use each tool and material
• How to avoid damaging the wood—or yourself!
• Why each step matters for a long-lasting and beautiful result

• This workshop is for ages 18+ only
• We provide all required PPE
• Please wear closed-toe shoes and old clothes you don’t mind getting dusty, dirty, or stained.
