This training programme provides a unique opportunity for HR professionals and managers to increase the depth of their expertise in all key areas of Employment Law and to share knowledge and network with other delegates. 

Each session is delivered by a qualified legal expert with up to date best practice knowledge.  You will also be appointed a mentor over the period of the programme to monitor progress and to ensure understanding.

The programme is conducted over the equivalent of 6 days over 6 months including a variety of webinars, e-learning and face-to-face sessions.  Dates will be confirmed with attendees.

This course includes:

- Recruitment and selection – best practice in recruitment and selection and legal requirements.

- Contracts of employment – forming and writing contracts of employment. including varying contracts, regulations around part-time workers, agency workers and fixed term workers

- Family friendly policies – maternity leave, shared parental leave, parental leave, flexible working and time off for dependents

- Discrimination issues, practices and current legislative requirements – understanding the Equality Act, including the protected characteristics and the different types of discrimination, such as identifying and managing complaints of discrimination.

- Discipline and grievance handling – understanding best practice including investigation techniques.

- Managing absence effectively – handling short and long-term absence.

- Data protection for HR – including GDPR.

- Streamlining the business – understanding and conducting redundancy exercises.

- TUPE – a practical overview.

- Termination of employment and the role of the employment tribunal – protected conversations, settlement agreements and the role of the employment tribunal.
