What is The Hypnobirthing Café?

The Hypnobirthing Café offers a relaxed and welcoming space where you can pick and choose which sessions to attend, meet with like minded people and find good quality, evidence based information, mind-body techniques and practical tips to help you prepare for your baby's birth.

What are the benefits of attending?

By attending, you’ll: Feel calm and in control during labour and birth. Gain valuable knowledge about your body and how it works in labour. Learn practical tools like breathing, relaxation, and decision-making skills. Connect with other parents in a supportive environment.

Should I attend just one or all 4 sessions?

The sessions are designed as standalone experiences, so you can attend just one or as many as you like. For the most comprehensive preparation, we recommend attending all four.

What is Hypnobirthing?

Hypnobirthing is a proven approach to childbirth that uses a number of mind-body techniques such as focused breathing, relaxation and positive visualisation to help you stay calm and centred during labour.

is Hypnobirthing backed by science?

Yes, it's supported by scientific research showing its benefits for reducing stress, promoting relaxation, and improving experiences during pregnancy and birth. Andrea, a Registered Midwife, will explain the science during the first session and the ways hypnobirthing can support you.

What if I'm having a planned Caesarean section?

You’re still welcome to attend the sessions that are most relevant to you. Andrea can also offer a personalised session with tips for making your c-section birth in theatre a calm and positive experience for you and your baby using Hypnobirthing techniques.

How many spaces are available?

Spaces are limited to six enrolments per session (12 attendees if birth partners join). It's recommended that you book early to secure your spot!

Can I bring children to the event?

While we love little ones, this event is designed for adults. The discussions and activities may include themes that are best suited to a grown-up audience. We appreciate your understanding.

Is The Haven wheelchair accessible?

The venue has stairs from the main entrance, but a stair lift is available. Please contact us in advance at andrea@andrealawrie.com or 07411 755895 to make arrangements for a smooth arrival.

Andrea Lawrie is a professionally registered midwife, an accredited hypnobirthing teacher, a registered midwifery educator, certified trauma release practitioner, Usui Reiki Master-Teacher, and certified women’s circle facilitator.

Andrea is a Certified Shamanic Practitioner and Teacher, Ceremonial Guide and Usui Reiki Master based in Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Rooted in the traditions of cross-cultural shamanism and guided by trauma-informed principles, her work supports deep personal transformation, spiritual reconnection, and embodied healing.

A former university lecturer and midwife, Andrea brings together scientific knowledge with spiritual wisdom. She offers a grounded, compassionate presence that honours the deeper meaning within birth, life transitions, loss and renewal. She offers Full Moon Circles, Shamanic Ceremonies, Workshops and Retreats, alongside one-to-one healing and guidance.

Andrea began practising shamanism in 1998 and has undertaken extensive training in Shamanic Practice, Healing Circles, Nature Intelligence, Earth-Based Wisdom and Plant Spirit Medicine. Her path is deeply shaped by the teachings of Two Birds Cunningham, whose mentorship continues to inspire and inform her work.
