Imran Khan Cancer Appeal - Skydive

A Tandem Skydive allows you to experience the thrill of free-fall skydiving with just a brief training session. You will skydive harnessed to the front of a fully qualified parachuting instructor from 14,000 ft. You will enjoy an adrenaline-packed free-fall reaching terminal velocity at 120mph, followed by approximately 5 minutes of flying gently to the ground under the parachute. • First Aid support in the event of emergencies.

Safety and Preparedness:

• Weather: Keep an eye on the weather forecast and be aware that adverse weather conditions may delay/cancel the skydive.
• Fitness: Ensure that you are physically prepared for the trek by engaging in regular physical activity and training.
• Emergency Contact: Share your itinerary and emergency contact details with a trusted friend or family member.

Fundraising:

There is a £500 minimum fundraising target for the Tandem Skydive. This excludes the £150 Registration Fee. This covers event management expenses such as the fees of the instructors, airplane hire, and third-party liability insurance (see below). The amount that you raise will go directly towards providing free cancer treatment for needy patients at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospitals in Lahore and Peshawar.

To make fundraising easier, we recommend setting up a JustGiving page https://www.justgiving.com/Shaukat. It’s quick, and easy and saves you from having to collect wads of cash. Once you’ve got one, all you’ll need to do is forward your JustGiving page link to friends and contacts, and they can donate online, directly to Imran Khan Cancer Appeal. You can also share updates and pictures on JustGiving so everyone who sponsors you can keep track of your progress. Your efforts make a significant impact on our cause, and every contribution counts.

Note: All of our skydiving prices include provisional membership to British Skydiving which provides third-party liability insurance during your skydive experience.

Training:
Upon signing in at reception on the day of your skydive, you will be introduced to one of our experienced tandem instructors. They will guide you through all the necessary details, including the equipment, flight process, skydive, parachute ride, and landing. You'll also practice the required body positions with their assistance.

The Flight:
Before take-off, you’ll be fitted into your harness. You and your instructor will then board the aircraft, where your harness will be securely attached to theirs. The flight will take place in one of our specially converted Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft, designed for skydiving. During the 20-minute ascent, you can enjoy stunning views of the British countryside.

The Skydive:
At around 14,000 feet, you and your instructor will move towards the aircraft door. The adrenaline will build as you jump and accelerate to terminal velocity, reaching speeds of over 120 mph. The freefall lasts approximately 45 to 50 seconds, during which it's incredibly windy and noisy. At 5,000 feet, your instructor will deploy the parachute, slowing the descent for a smoother ride.

Under the Parachute:
Once the parachute is deployed, you'll be able to communicate with your instructor and may even try steering. You'll practice the landing position and have time to admire the breathtaking scenery. If you're feeling adventurous, let your instructor know, and they can perform spins with the parachute. For a more relaxed experience, simply inform them. Your instructor will handle the landing, allowing you to enjoy the final moments of the dive before safely touching down.
