Let's celebrate one of the best tongue and cheek films of all times...

About this event

  • Is "Life of Brian" one of the funniest films you have ever seen?
  • Is it the sort of film that if you're feeling down, you watch it and it raises your spirits?
  • Do you feel like it's one of those rare films that is funny but also allows people to look at serious topics (like religion etc..) in a very different way?

If so, why not come to this one off social mixer celebrating the film "Life of Brian"! We will be talking about all things "Life of Brian" and digging in a bit deeper to the social impact of satire and parody in film and why it is almost none existent nowadays.

INTRODUCTION TO MONTY PYTHON'S LIFE OF BRIAN

"Monty Python's 'Life of Brian': An unholy work of satirical genius. Despite its absurdity and button-pushing taste, this mock-epic stands up four decades on as a stirring tribute to tolerance. A 90-minute sketch elevated to an entirely consistent, hugely audacious and ambitious film." (source: Reddit)

Monty Python's Life of Brian (also known as Life of Brian) is a 1979 British black comedy film starring and written by the comedy group Monty Python (Graham Chapman, John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin). It was directed by Jones. The film tells the story of Brian Cohen (played by Chapman), a young Judean man who is born on the same day as—and next door to-Jesus and is subsequently mistaken for the Messiah.

The film's themes of religious satire were controversial at the time of its release, drawing accusations of blasphemy. It was banned in several countries and by several councils here in the UK as well.

The film was a box office success, the fourth highest-grossing film in the United Kingdom in 1979, and highest-grossing of any British film in the United States that year. It has remained popular and has been named as the greatest comedy film of all time by several magazines and television networks.

Connected Exclusive Events was set up to run high quality events that do not break the bank!

The focus is simple: going back to basics and connecting to nature, self and others in a way that offers variety in the sort of activities offered, in London and Greater London areas.

  • With all the events only areas are listed and meet up points (with photos), making it super easy to know where we will be meeting up for the events. The event location will only be disclosed to attendees when they show up to the event on the day.
  • The aim is to create a community of amazing people who are encouraged to get together monthly: so the events are geared towards people who are intentional and actually show up to events!
  • These events are run simply. Meaning that unlike many events being run, there is no need to join Whatsapp groups to stay updated and no social media gimmicks will be offered to take part. During and after the events , who attendees connect with and how they choose to stay in touch, is up to each individual person. So the events are being run as phone/technology free-events. This means that it is encouraged (but not mandatory) for mobile phones to be switched off or in the very least silenced throughout the events until towards the end of the events when phones can be switched on. This is to ensure a better experience is had at connecting with each other without distractions and allowing for the possibility of being more present with others.

A wide variety of events are on offer, so there are options and choice for most if what you are after is an in person community where reconnecting with nature, oneself and others in what you're after and you're looking for it to be meaningful and fun !
