About this event

Join us for an inspiring evening with Kathy Slack as she discusses her transformative memoir Rough Patch: How a Year in the Garden Brought Me Back to Life. Facing burnout and anxiety, Kathy found solace in her kitchen garden, rediscovering hope and healing through the power of nature and the joy of growing her own food.

Perfect for garden lovers, food enthusiasts, and anyone seeking renewal, this promises to be an evening of heartfelt stories and new perspectives.

Kathy Slack is a food writer, recipe developer, stylist, photographer and kitchen gardener. Kathy's first book, From the Veg Patch, was named one of the Top 25 cookbooks in 2021 by Delicious magazine and was shortlisted for The Guild of Food Writers Award for Best Cookbook 2022. She writes a regular seasonal recipe feature in The Simple Things Magazine, the Substack newsletter, Tales from the Veg Patch, and is a regular seasonal recipe writer for OcadoLife. She hosts podcasts and is a regular on BBC Radio Oxford and Magic FM.

Rough Patch: how a year in the garden brought me back to life was published February 2025.
