Bloodline

Joanna Piercy must rescue an elderly man from a hostage situation that has chilling roots in the past in this enthralling mystery.

Detective Inspector Joanna Piercy's joy at her close colleague Detective Sergeant Mike Korpanski's return to work is short-lived. Elderly Joseph Holden has been taken hostage in his secluded mansion overlooking Rudyard Lake by an armed intruder. And the hostage taker insists he will only speak to her.

With just a four-day hostage negotiation course under her belt, Joanna is feeling the heat. How does the hostage taker know her name? What does he want? As the questions multiply and Rudyard Lake is sealed off by an armed response unit, Joanna is about to discover that the roots of this shocking event lie deeply buried in a terrible crime - a crime that happened far away and many years ago . . .

Set in the beautiful Staffordshire countryside, featuring a compelling heroine and a stunning final revelation, this page-turning mystery is perfect for fans of Elly Griffiths, L.J. Ross, Ruth Rendell and Jane A. Adams.

About the author

Born in Halifax and adopted into a multi racial family of seven, Priscilla Masters is the creator of the Detective Inspector Joanna Piercy novels set in the Staffordshire moorlands, the latest of which is Bloodline, published 2024 by Severn House. She is also the creator of a series featuring coroner Martha Gunn, set in the medieval town of Shrewsbury.

And, using her background in nursing, she has published two titles featuring nurse Florence Shaw, as well as a number of standalone mysteries with a medical theme.

She has two sons, two grandsons and lives in a Victorian cottage on the Staffordshire/Shropshire border.

About the interviewer

Heide Goody writes mostly with Iain Grant. They have co-authored 50+ novels together across various genres.

Comedy is something they love to include in their writing.

Their longest-running series is Clovenhoof, where Satan is made redundant from Hell and sent to live in Birmingham.

They also write cosy crime mysteries under the pen name of Millie Ravensworth.

They both live in the midlands, and are married, but not to each other.

Refreshments provided. There will be copies of Priscilla's books for sale at the event.
