After 2000 years of building, who were the architects that made the Chester we see today?
Chester has a wealth and variety of architecture. In recent history we saw a major change from the neo-classical styles of Joseph Turner and Thomas Harrison. There was a country leading explosion of vernacular work but with gothic and classical interspersed. What was the cultural and economic background. Who were the key players .. we have another Harrison and two ‘T.Ms? Of course, not forgetting John Douglas whose work is so much a part of the Chester and district townscapes.
We look at this period and the story of this group.
