About this event

About this course

Learn the foundational skills of photo stencil screen printing, to help expand or start your creative journey. On the short course, you will learn how to produce your own photo stencil screen print from start to finish. You will be taught the initial coating and exposure of screens, all the way to the exciting reveal of your first print!

This is aimed at beginners who would like to try out this process, It's also a great opportunity for those looking to refresh their partially remembered college skills. It is perfect for printmakers who would like to become a member of Carousel Print Studio and use the screen printing facilities during open access sessions.

You will be taken step by step through coating a screen, exposing an image with the exposure unit, developing it in the washout room and then registering and printing the image onto paper.

What will I make?

You will make a two colour screen print. The first colour being an experimental base colour, using the ‘Colour Fountain’ print technique. To encourage you to print in a more painterly style, that will give you some foundational understanding of colours and inks relate with one another on the screen. And how to pull ink through a screen. The second colour will be a photo image of your choice,  ( A4, submitted to print@carouselprintstudio@gmail.com)  that will be printed on top of the first layer, where you will learn the basics of ‘registration.’
