About this event

  • Event lasts 6 hours 30 minutes

Consider your first alpacas - what to purchase and the uses you intend for them. Understand the basics of good fibre characteristics and sound conformation in alpacas.

We will also cover choosing stud males, mating alpacas and move on to birthing and care of the newborn and growing cria.

The day is practical and hands on. You will examine fibre, check out fibre on the animals and learn what to look for (and avoid) when choosing alpacas. Although a birth during the course is unlikely, we will use videos to help you prepare for your first birth if you are intending to breed.

This workshop is affiliated by the British Alpaca Society

Refreshments and a hot lunch are supplied.

Please contact Kate if you have any questions.
