About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Jane Morris became an icon for the Pre-Raphaelite movement. Her unique beauty was famously captured by her long-time lover, Dante Gabriel Rossetti. Somewhat overshadowed by her illustrious, multi-talented husband, William Morris, "Janey" has been unfairly neglected by art historians, yet she was a skilled embroidery artist in her own right.

In this illustrated talk, John Hawks of Wandle Industrial Museum and Merton Priory Trust, looks at the life and work of someone who was certainly not just a pretty face.
