We, the Canal & River Trust, are the charity who looks after 2000 miles of waterways nationally. Our purpose is to achieve a sustainable future for our canal network, keeping it open and alive, making it resilient and safe, and maximising its value for people, nature and the economy.

The King's Cross Canal-Side Activation Programme will help to increase awareness and appreciation of the canal's natural and cultural heritage among the community and visitors.

Come and join us during London Walking Festival to find out how being by the water has a positive impact on your wellbeing. The walk, run by Canal & River Trust, will be led by one of our volunteer walk leaders who is full of interesting information about the local area.

The walk will start outside of King's Cross Station, lead you along to Word on the Water, back to Coal Drops Yard and along the Regent's Canal to the gasometers and St Pancras Lock. Then we will go over to visit the St Pancras Old Church (early 19th century rebuild) and church yard and back to St Pancras Cruising Club. You will then join a guided 1 hour tour at 1pm of the Waterpoint Tower as part of the clubs open day. The Waterpoint is a significant building, that was constructed in 1872 to supply water to the rapidly growing steam railway network at St Pancras.

Please be aware that the waterpoint venue is accessed through a flight of steps. The viewing platform is accessed through two further flights of stairs.

The end of the walk will be at St Pancras Cruising Club after the waterpoint tour ends.

The great thing about walking is that you do not need any fancy equipment. Please just wear comfortable shoes, warm clothes if cold and bring a jacket if raining.
