About this event

Life Drawing in Bristol: Tutored

Alongside our weekly untutored class in Stokes Croft, `I am also running a series of tutored evening classes and weekend workshops to experiement with drawing, and refine your skills.

This class will begin with a few warm up exercises designed to help develop your seeing skills and improve your confidence, as well as tips for scale and proportion. We will then move to building a figure in stages, with emphasis on gesture and expression, rather than measuring and maths. Beth will be on hand to provide one-on-one advice and tips.

Every level of artist is welcome, from complete beginners onwards. This class is intended to be a gentle dip in to tutoring, to improve your figure drawing skills and connect with your creative self.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to bring anything?

No, all the materials you need will be provided for you, but please feel free to bring a sketchbook or your own materials. If you do this, we will be using charcoal powder and sticks, graphite pencils, and eraser, and a sharpener.

Is the class wheelchair accessible?

Yes, there is a ramp available via The Canteen bar downstairs, and then you can use our lift. We're on the 3rd floor.

Is there parking?

Hamilton House does not have a public car park, but most of the on-street parking nearby is either permitted and free after 5pm, or have pay-and-display machines.

How do I get there?

We're situated right in the middle of Stokes Croft, Bristol, above The Canteen bar. Enter through the double doors and someone will be on reception to show you up. There are lots of bus stops within a couple of minutes walk, and we're about a 15 minute walk from Montpelier train station.

Do I need experience?

No! The aim of this class is to build your confidence, and introduce you to looking and drawing in your own style.
