Celebrate the River Lea – A Waterside Gathering at Cody Dock
Join us for a relaxed and inspiring evening to mark the end of We The Lea's walk and celebrate our side of the River Lea. In collaboration with We The Lea, and as part of London Rivers Week we’re bringing together community, conversation, and creativity to reflect on London's second river.
Our bar and café will be open throughout the event, offering welcoming spaces to wind down, enjoy food and drinks, and connect with others who care about the Lea and the waterways beyond.
What to Expect:
🌊 River Reflections
As you arrive, you’ll be invited to share your personal connection to the River Lea and your hopes for its future—an evolving, participatory piece led by local artist, Lydia Thornley.
🎤 Talks & Discussions (from 16:00)
Hear from those working closely with our waterways:
- Sonia Levy will speak about her artistic practice and her film Creatures of the Line, which explores submerged ecologies and the impact of industrialisation on river life.
- Gino Brignoli and Alisa Graham-Brown, Biodiversity Officers at Cody Dock, will share their insights into the River Lea's unique character—thinking of it not only as water, but as boundary, connector, and living system.
🎬 Immersive Film Screenings (from 12:00)
Settle into a meditative riverside space and experience a curated loop of films that explore our relationship with rivers, including:
- Creatures of the Line – Sonia Levy
- Intercellular – Dan Short
- Duck – Crispin Hughes & Susi Arnott
- Sacred Geographies: From the Indus to the Lea – Ryan Powell & Corina Dean
These works will play continuously throughout the evening, creating a space to pause, reflect, and immerse yourself in stories that flow with the current of the Lea.
Come raise a glass, share your stories, and explore the power and beauty of our waterways.
This event is free to attend, but booking is encouraged to help us plan.
