About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Drop in and draw along with us, live from our London studios at lunchtime from 1-2pm (GMT). Guided by an experienced tutor, students will draw from a model and our Digital Technician Team will use a range of digital processes only possible online.

Using the School's multi-camera digital studio, we will explore different approaches that will help students improve and develop their observational drawing skills. We will focus on the human form, giving you the opportunity to observe and draw a live model from the comfort of your home or workplace. There will be a variety of long and short poses enhanced by different perspectives, dramatic lighting, filters and framing. Each session will include live tuition that will help students approach the different poses and to get the most out of the session.

An hour of drawing in your day can not only improve your drawing skills but also promotes a more relaxed state of mind, reduces anxiety, develop problem solving skills and can simply just be fun!

This session will be led by tutor Tara Versey and will focus on drawing hands. We will look at the complexity and subtlety of hands in various natural positions. With a brief look at the anatomy of our hands and use of the grid, we will consider structure, gesture, individuality and expression.

Frequently asked questions

Q. What do I need to join an online course?

All you need is a computer, laptop or tablet that has a webcam and speaker, a connection to the internet and some space and materials for drawing comfortably. The courses are taught using Zoom, and the link is included in the confirmation email after purchase.

Q. If I miss a class, can I watch a recorded version?

Unfortunately not. Our online classes are taught live at scheduled times (GMT). The ses-sions are reliant on live interaction, much like being in a physical drawing workshop.

Q. How do I join the Zoom class?

You will need to download Zoom onto your computer or laptop. The Zoom link is available in your Eventbrite ticket after the purchase. Please join the meeting promptly at the start time of your class.

Q. I missed a class. Can I get a refund?

No refund is available once the course/class has started. If cancelling before the beginning of the relevant term/class, a 50% refund can be arranged. The School is under no obligation to provide an additional class if a student misses one. We are unable to transfer courses to a following term.

What about safeguarding? How do you make classes a safe place for everyone?

The School reserves the right to deny booking any student or to remove any student immediately from a course in line with the School's Safeguarding Policy. In the instance that a student is removed from a course a refund for remaining sessions will be issued.

Q. Can I record the class or get the recording from you?

In line with the School’s online safeguarding policy, students are not permitted to take pic-tures or record any online broadcast. This is to protect our community. Recordings of the sessions will not be made available to students after the live broadcast, even if a student misses a class.
