Make Art: Brighton is a free monthly in-person art group is an opportunity to connect with other artists in a relaxed and creative space. Make Art is a place to talk about art, life, and creativity, hatch new ideas and explore your potential as an artist. It is run by Outside In artists Eden Brackenbury and James Shreeve and we aim to build our own local creative community. You are encouraged to bring your own projects to work on and share with the group if you would like to.
Places are very limited, so please book your ticket in advance. If it is showing as sold out on Eventbrite, there may still be places available - email Beth Hopkins Community Development Manager at beth.hopkins@outsidein.org.uk to find out.
Please let Beth know if you have any access requirements, for example disabled parking, a quiet break out space, or to bring someone with you for support.
Come along to meet other artists and make art!
Frequently asked questions
Make Art is a place to make your own work alongside other artists and share your practice. There may be some skill sharing with other artists, but it is not a formal workshop, more a relaxed space to create freely.
You can bring your sketchbook, latest project or potential ideas with you. Some basic materials are provided (paper, pens, pencils, pastels) but you are encouraged to bring your own. Please don't bring hazardous or potentially dangerous materials to the group, such as sharp knives or aerosols.
You do not need to already be an Outside In artist to take part, but you do need to face barriers to the art world, such as health, disability, social circumstance and isolation. If you’re unsure whether this is a good fit for you, please do get in touch with Beth to talk it through.
We aim to make the group as accessible as possible for everyone coming. Everyone's needs are different, so if you have requirements please get in touch with Beth at beth.hopkins@outsidein.org.uk to let us know how we can make sure the session works for you.
