MEISNER TECHNIQUE REPETITION / ACTIVITY & DOOR EXERCISES

Meisner Technique classes at the Beck Academy of Dramatic Art are the real deal, so you should only attend if you feeling ready and excited to test your boundaries and take yourself out of your comfort zone.

Students are encouraged to progress at their own pace and in line with their individual strengths and weaknesses. Your instructors will continuously provide the supporting environment for students to challenge themselves further, each session.

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Meisner Technique Short Course is for aspiring actors and for established actors who are new to the Meisner Technique. It is designed to introduce students to the method and to lay the foundations for further study.

The course is an opportunity to challenge yourself and discover your emotional truth. Each week students will work through acting exercises encouraging them to progressively step out of their comfort zone.

Through the cornerstone exercise of the Meisner Repetition Exercise students learn how to connect with the other actor. Importantly, the course trains actors to delve into their own emotional experiences and teaches them to use their imagination to create the improvised exercises that are the hallmark of the Meisner Technique.

These skills are necessary for giving powerful, truthful and memorable performances on screen and stage.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

If you take the course, you will learn practical acting skills that you can begin to apply almost immediately to your acting and artistic practice.

In addition to the practical hands-on acting skills you will learn, the course offers students a unique opportunity to meet and work with like-minded actors. Through the Meisner Foundations short course, you will also get the opportunity to join the vibrant, ever growing, but select community of actors attending the Beck Academy of Dramatic Art.

Requirements

The course is currently open to all students. There are currently no additional requirements to join it.

All welcome, you don’t need to have any previous experience in acting. In fact the less experience the better!

The Meisner Technique is a full method acting training program designed for people who want to pursue acting professionally. In each acting class you will be challenged; progressively invited to venture outside of your comfort zone.

PLEASE NOTE: Students will be instructed in traditional Meisner Technique methodology which is emotionally intensive.

Therefore, the course is not recommended for aspiring who do not yet feel ready or comfortable working with their emotions. Additionally, the course is not recommended for people who are not interested in pursuing acting professionally!

Professional Acting Training | BEAT | Beck Emotional Access Technique | Meisner Technique | Acting Classes | Audition Workshops | Scene/Text Analysis

Beck Academy of Dramatic Art is a London based acting studio with a singular approach to teaching acting. The basis of the acting training is BEAT or the Beck Emotional Access Technique.

BEAT, defined as a holistic approach to teaching acting, aims to disengage the actor’s emotional connection to ‘things’ in their own world thus freeing them up to attach those emotions to ‘things’ in the character’s world. By ‘things’ we mean circumstances, objects, places and people.

BEAT is a fully developed, dynamic and integrated approach to training actors that feels more like a creative re-awakening rather than a method of acting. BEAT actors are able to ‘enter’ character instinctively. This is the goal of the technique. They are trained to feel, think, move, sound and feel like the character they seek to embody.

In addition to training in BEAT, the Actors Door Studio offers classes in Voice, Movement and Screen Acting to compliment the actor’s training.
