Midnight Rodeo formed out of the oscillating melting pot that is Nottingham, 6 friends who had plied their wares in various other projects were eventually bound together in the prodigiously convenient summer of 2021. Assembled by Maddy Chamberlain with the sole objective of banishing previous sonic shackles, such as compromising to ideals & hunting for vague ideas of success. Their tenacity is birthed from a fierce will to ensure their primary concept is a celebration of joy and a collective appreciation for the wonderfully weird.
After a few short months of writing together, they signed with FatCat Records in 2022 and immediately came 3 singles (Now You’re Gone, Shootout Sunday & The Big Melt) accompanied by a relentless schedule of touring across the UK & Europe, bringing their brand of psychedelic art-rock to all corners and haunts, where audiences experienced firsthand their palpable joy.
2023 saw the release of Thank You for Your Time alongside a huge 18 date UK & European tour, alongside a host of festival appearances. They also expanded their sound in the cracks of their city, crafting their unique combination of a powerful groove-laden rhythm section, jangly guitars, theremin-esque synths & booming organs, all held together with the ethereal, honeyed vocals of Chamberlain. Krauty & latin-esque grooves found their way to bigger stages and powerful psych-pop garage floor fillers saw them filling rooms, creating chaos & hypnotic states in equal measure.
All this eventually culminated in 2024 when they embarked to the remote Welsh countryside to record their debut album, fuelled by honeysuckle champagne in a befitting heatwave. Sat atop sheepskins they sweated through the days with valves glowing and tapes scratching. Chaos Era is Midnight Rodeo’s tale up until now, exhuming their chaotic alter egos, uprooting lives to birth something completely afresh, all the while consolidating their enthralling bond.
“Chaos Era” is set for release July 2025 on FatCat Records (Sigur Rós, Animal Collective, Frightened Rabbit, The Twilight Sad, We Were Promised Jetpacks), having been mixed by Grammy award winning mixing engineer Claudius Mittendorfer (Sorry, Temples, Parquet Courts) and mastered by John Webber (David Bowie, Ash, Coach Party, Junodream). The album will be accompanied by a UK & European tour in September & October 2025.
