Course Purpose

Overview of Moving and Handling of People & Objects and Basic Life Support Care Train the Trainer (2 Day Classroom Attendance)

Moving and Handling of People & Objects and Basic Life Support CPD Train the Trainer provides learners with an extensive skill set so that they can identify how to safely move people, objects and safely use equipment and to be able to deliver Basic Life Support and Safe Use of an Automated External Defibrillator training in their healthcare workplace. On completing this course learners will have the knowledge, understanding and skills required to be able to deliver these 2 mandatory training courses in their healthcare workplace. The course is designed for experienced healthcare staff working within a care environment.

We deliver this course at our training academy in Jewellery Quarter, Birmingham we only allow a maximum of 6 learners at any time. We feel proud to be able to deliver training to smaller groups as we want to ensure learners experience a personalised and supportive learning experience allowing the Trainer to provide quality time and individual support.


Learner Entry Requirements

Learners must have a relevant care-related qualification accredited/ awarded or working towards a Level 3 qualification or above.

Working in a Senior position

Previous Moving and Handling and First Aid/ BLS Qualification/ CPD Certificate.

Previous 2 Years’ Experience of Moving and Handling of People & Objects and a thorough knowledge of Resuscitation relevant to the level of practice and teaching in a care Setting.

The physical capability of practical people and objects Moving and Handling and being able to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

We would recommend learners to work towards Level 3 Award in Education and Training and/or Level 3 Certificate in assessing competence in the work environment but is not essential for this course as your trainer skills will be assessed.


Accreditation


This Moving & Handling People & Objects Train the Trainer has been accredited by the CPD Accreditation Group and is aligned to the Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF).


Our Basic Life Support & Automated External Defibrillator Train the Trainer course has been accredited by the CPD Accreditation Group. This course is aligned to the Core Skills Training Framework (CSTF) for Adult Basic Life Support, Care Certificate Standard 12 and in accordance with the UK Resuscitation Council guidance.

You will receive 2 Accredited Approved Train the Trainer certificates on successful completion.


Assessment Methods


Moving & Handling of People & Objects Train the Trainer is internally assessed. Each learner is required to complete the pre course preparation prior to attending the classroom train the trainer course. This will all be emailed to you 7 -14 days prior to attending the course.

During the classroom attendance you will participate in risk assessing and demonstrating practical activities throughout the course. There will be peer observations for classroom assessments and a 10-minute theory and practical micro-teach at the end of the course for both Moving & Handling and Basic Life Support.

Learning Outcomes:


1) Be able to define the term Manual Handling


2) Understand employers and employees responsibilities, legal obligations under relevant national Health & Safety legislation, the Manual Handling Operations Regulations and local policies and procedures.


3) Identify how to carry out a Risk Assessment and reduce the risk of injury prior to undertaking manual handling tasks


4) Understand the Principles of good back care and the consequences of poor manual handling practice


5) Be aware of the types of equipment, and testing requirements for lifting equipment associated with moving & handling of people safely.


6) Be able to train others in Moving and Handling of People & Objects practical group training session in their healthcare workplace.


BLS & AED Train the Trainer Learning Outcomes:

1 Be able to understand your role and responsibility when responding to emergency situations that may occur in the workplace.

2 Be able to assess the scene of an incident.

3 Be able to provide first aid to an unconscious casualty that Is breathing.

4 Be able to provide first aid to a casualty that is not breathing – and commence Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to an Adult, Child and Infant.

5 Be able to understand the safe use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

6 Be able to provide first aid to a casualty that is choking.

7 Be able to train others in Basic Life Support and the safe use of an Automated External Defibrillator practical training session in their healthcare workplace.


Final Assessments on Day 1 and Day 2 - Presenting Information - 10 - minute Theory and Practical Micro-Teach trainer assessment


Who Provides The Training?


All our courses are delivered by Trainers that have the required certification, knowledge and experience within a Healthcare Setting.


Course Duration:

2 days of classroom attendance including pre course preparation for your microteach.

Certification - On successful completion of the course, attendees will be issued with 2 accredited certificate by The CPD Accreditation Group valid for 2 years.


Approved Trainer Membership - You will be registered as an Approved Trainer with Passion4Training for 2 years at no extra cost. You will receive exclusive access to our Approved Trainer HUB via the website where you will have access to ongoing support, resources and you will be able to issue unlimited certificates to your learners.


You will be able to download Passion4Training’s Trainer Resource Packs from the HUB and be able to deliver in-house training at your place of work this includes all course administration paperwork, powerpoint presentation, resources and handouts including personalised certificates for you to customise to meet your organisation requirements and needs.
