Nabeel Khan is a globally recognised rising star from India having brought the classical 17th century instrument known as the Sarangi into the mainstream. For the last several years he's been mesmerising audiences across India, the Middle East and Europe with the hypnotic sound of the Sarangi by way of Indian Classical music, instrumental Sufi music and more.
Nabeel belongs to to the Moradabad Sainia Gharana of Sarangi players. He is the grandson of the legendary Sarangi maestro Padmabhushan Ustad Sabri Khan Sahab. Nabeel has been immersed in this instrument since the age of 7 and whilst still in his 20's, Nabeel has rapidly established himself as the torchbearer for the Sarangi across the globe.
Joining Nabeel on the 22nd of June will be our very own Londoner and also rising star of Indian Classical Music, Junaid Ali on tabla. Junaid will be familiar to many in the UK being the student of Ustad Shahbaz Hussain; a globally recognised leading practitioner of the Panjab Gharana.
Junaid has broadened his horizons by recording albums in contemporary Western fusion music, particularly with nine time Grammy Award winner: Skrillex. He has been invited to perform at both the All Pakistan Music Conferences, the Darbar Festival several times and has performed in venues such as Wembley Stadium, Birmingham Symphony Hall, the V&A, Trafalgar Square, and more.
The two of them will take you on a tour of Indian Classical Music and instrumental Sufi/Qawwali music.
Seating is unreserved. Doors open at 7pm for 7.30pm start. The performance will be for 90 minutes.
