Travel to Fort William
We recommend travelling via Glasgow, either by plane or train. From Glasgow, there are three daily train services, the latest leaving Glasgow Airport at 16:50, arriving into Fort William at 22:09
Challenge Itinerary
6am SaturdayMeet your guides and group by Fort William station. Arrive having eaten breakfast.
7am SaturdayBegin the Challenge at Ben Nevis, walking the Pony Track, aiming for a five hour climb.
12pm SaturdayComplete Ben Nevis and travel by minibus to Scafell Pike (six hour drive).
6pm SaturdayArrive at Scafell Pike and begin the climb from Wasdale Head, walking for around four hours.
10pm SaturdayComplete Scafell Pike and travel to Snowdon (four hour drive).
2am SundayArrive at Snowdon and begin climb of around five hours. We'll ascend on the Pyg Track, and come down the Llanberis path, arriving next to the Mountain Railway office and cafe.
7am SundayComplete the Three Peaks Challenge!
Sunday late morningTransfers provided to Manchester for trains home. We suggest booking open tickets without a fixed time, or booking for 2pm onwards in case of delays.
*Please note that while we will aim to complete the Challenge within 24-hours, we can be delayed by weather, traffic and other elements, and our focus is on the safety of all involved.
Kit List for National Three Peaks Challenge
Please note the mandatory items - unsuitable footwear is our most common kit issue.
Mandatory
- Walking boots (with ankle support, not trail shoes or trainers)
- Headtorch
- Waterproof jacket
- Waterproof overtrousers (with taped seams)
- Hiking socks (wearing a single pair recommended, rather than using a liner sock)
- Backpack (approx. 20-40 litre size)
- Water container (bottle or Camelbak-style, 1-2 litres)
- Food & hill snacks (pasta, cereal bars, dried fruit, nuts)
- Gloves
- Hat (covering ears)
Recommended clothing
- Walking trousers or sports leggings (not jeans or tracksuit trousers)
- Sports top (not cotton)
- Warm outer layer
- Changes of clothes

Overnight bags
You're welcome to bring an overnight bag for us to store for you, but please don't exceed airline carry-on size.
