About this event
- Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes
Speed Dating Shropshire (25-40 year olds)
Speed Dating Shropshire brings you an evening of neurodiverse and autism-friendly Speed Dating for 25-40-year-olds. (You need to be within 2-3 years of the advertised age to attend). You will date up to 9 people with the possibility to find friendship, connection and maybe someone to go on a second date with!
When you arrive at 6.30pm, you will be given a lanyard to wear, you write your name on the blank name badge so your dates know what to call you.
You will also be given pictures of a number, a letter and an animal; the first thing you need to do is find the other people in the room with the same number, letter and animal pictures as you and write down their name - when you have found all 3 people and all 3 names, hand the sheet back to Pixie! This will get everyone talking and interacting - hopefully this will settle your nerves and get you ready for the dating!
At 7pm, we will move onto the first half of the dating - one gender (to be confirmed nearer the time) will sit at a table, which will be your table to stay at whilst dating. The other gender will join them and have 7 minutes to chat and get to know each other. We will not be using a bell but rather a 1 minute and a 30 second warning that the dates are coming to an end followed by 5-4-3-2-1 and then asking one gender to move to the next date.
You will be given 1 minute to privately write notes about your date before your next date takes place.
At 7.40-7.45pm, there will be a 15-minute break where you can buy drinks and snacks if you would like to.
At approximately 8PM, the second half of the dating will begin, and you will have up to 4 more dates, also lasting 7 minutes each. We are hoping for a total of 9 dates provided we sell all 18 tickets - timings will change slightly should we have fewer people attending but I am hopeful we can sell out.
For all of the dates, you will have a piece of paper on a clipboard where you can make notes about the other person and decide if you would like a second date or to stay in touch as friends. Keep your notes private and hand this to Pixie, the host, at the end of the night.
If you tick yes that you would like to see someone again, and they also tick yes that they would like to see you again, Pixie will send you the email and/or phone number of the person you have matched with so you can continue to get to know each other.
Frequently asked questions
You will be met by Pixie and Jody who will be your hosts for the evening. You will be asked to write your name on a blank name badge and wear a lanyard around your neck with this on so other daters know what to call you. Drinks and snacks are available to buy from the cafe.
You have 7 minutes to chat and get to know each other. You have a dating scorecard where you write down if you would like to see that person again. If they want to see you too, then the host will share your email/phone number with them within 24 hours after the event.
If you have ticked that you would like to see someone again and they have done the same, then Pixie will send you each other’s email and phone number within 24 hours of the event finishing. If you have not found a match, we will still let you know and invite you to our next event.
You will have a dating scorecard which has a notes section – I suggest making lots of notes i.e. what hobbies do they have? What do they look like? Their age? Anything that stands out and makes you think ‘YEAAAH I want to go out with this person again!’
We will not run the event unless we have sold at least 12 tickets (6 male and 6 female) – we want you to have at least 6 dates. If, for any reason, we do not sell enough tickets to bring you an awesome dating experience, we will offer you a full refund and cancel the event.
You need to be within 2-3 years of the age category to attend the event.
Dark Lane Car Park is a large car park just outside the venue. The postcode TF3 4HD will take you there.
Yes, there is a ramp to get into the cafe. If you can let me know in advance that you require wheelchair access, this will allow me to ensure you have a suitable table for when you are dating.
Yes! You are welcome to bring a trusted friend or support person if that would make you feel more comfortable. They can help you navigate the event, but they won’t be able to participate in the speed dating interactions themselves.
Due to venue size, we are restricting the amount of additional people (non-daters) so have allocated just one space per dater for a support person/carer/parent. If there are reasons that you need more than one person, please email info@speeddatingshropshire.co.uk to confirm.
There’s no required preparation, but it can be helpful to think of a few things you’d like to share about yourself—like your hobbies, favorite books or movies, or things you're passionate about. Just be yourself and come with an open mind!
We understand that sensory overload or social anxiety can be challenging. There is sheltered seating outsidce where you can take a break if you need to step away and recharge. You can also let Event Organisers Pixie or Jody know if you need additional support at any time.
You're welcome to use some of the simple, lighthearted, and easy to answer questions on the tables. They will include 'What hobbies do you have?' 'What do you like to do on the weekend?' and similar types of questions to get you started. You're welcome to bring your own list of questions too!
That’s completely okay! The goal is to provide a positive and inclusive environment where everyone feels respected and comfortable. If you don’t feel a connection with anyone, you can still enjoy the event, and perhaps consider joining again next time. There’s no pressure to "make a match."
