About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 15 minutes

ONS Local has been established by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) to promote evidence-based decision-making at the local level. We aim to host insightful workshops which will provide practical, technical support to help users make the most of ONS and cross government data. National Records of Scotland (NRS) is a Non-Ministerial Department of the Scottish Government. Their purpose is to collect, preserve and produce information about Scotland's people and history and make it available to inform current and future generations.

Scotland's census was conducted in 2022, led by the National Records of Scotland (NRS). During 2024 a range of topic data were released and later that year the Flexible Table Builder was published which allowed users to combine variables in the same table down to electoral ward level. Census maps also allowed users to explore the data for their local area. In March 2025 the Flexible Table was published down to data zone level, and pre-built tables were published for output areas. This workshop by NRS will demonstrate how to make full and effective use of the Flexible Table Builder and the accompanying census maps. Though this webinar will be of particular interest to stakeholders in Scotland, those from England, Wales and Northern Ireland may also want to attend, if for example they can benefit from comparable data from across the UK.

This event is open to all; we anticipate it will be particularly relevant for those working on Census data either in Scotland or across the whole of the UK.
