Operation Julie and The Microdot Gang
The Microdot Gang operated in Britain from 1972 until 1977 when it was smashed by the police in Operation Julie. At the time the Microdot Gang were the world’s largest manufacturers and distributors of some of the most potent LSD ever made. This illustrated talk examines numerous aspects of the LSD conspiracy including the pre-history and genesis of the Microdot Gang, how and why the principal members came together and many little, known facts about the case. Andy will also explode many of the myths and legends which have accrued around the Microdot Gang and bring things up to date with a ‘where are they now’.

Andy Roberts has written over twenty books on subjects including folklore, UFOs, biography and the history of LSD in Britain. His most recent book is In Search of Smiles (Psychedelic Press, 2023) a biography of Alston, ‘Smiles Hughes, psychedelic outlaw and the Microdot Gang’s main distributor of LSD. His forthcoming book is a revised edition of Albion Dreaming (Psychedelic Press. He lives in North Wales with t’bird and a cat called Pepper.
