Pain Education Session

Welcome to our Pain Education Session!

Our two-hour group Pain Education Session can help anyone who has had pain for 12 weeks of more, their family, even employers. This group session takes place at Craigmillar Medical Practice and will give you a better understanding of your pain to help you manage it more effectively in the long term.

Topics covered are:

  • What is pain?
  • Managing activity
  • Managing stress
  • Sleep
  • Managing Flare Ups

*This session is open people aged 18+ (16-17yr olds can attend if accompanied by a parent/guardian)

Location: Craigmillar Medical Practice, 106 Niddrie Mains Road, Edinburgh, EH16 4DT

Who will be delivering the session?

The sessions will be delivered by two trained Pain Educators who have lived experience themselves. Our pain educators have been trained to NHS training standards.

Do I need to participate?

It is important to us you feel comfortable in order to get the most out of the session, there is no requirement to talk or share experiences.

Can I have someone with me?

Yes, of course! You are welcome to be joined by family, friends even employers. Everyone needs to register individually

What can I expect from the session?

You'll join 2 Pain Educators, a Pain Concern representative and up to 10 participants. Topics covered: • Understanding pain • Sleep • Managing your activity • Managing flare-ups • Managing stress There may be occasions where deliver the session remotely. The representative will attend in person.

How will this help me?

The session is an introduction to help you develop a way of dealing with your pain and should allow you to: • Know more about your pain • Learn how to better deal with stress • Be able to enjoy life more • Be able to do more

Will I be asked for feedback?

Yes. This is really important for us to feedback to our funders. Also, feedback helps us to learn and develop our sessions. You will be asked to complete short survey before the session ends.
