Pattern, Prints and Pots with Emily Stubbs

Broaden your knowledge of underglaze application, glazes and oxides and learn how to create abstract slab built vessels with interesting surfaces full of depth and movement. Join us for an exciting two day course full of exploring the possibilities of pattern, prints and pots!

Day One: Learn how to observe your surroundings, focusing your attention to detail to create your own, unique, shapes, patterns and designs using handmade and found tools. You will learn various techniques such as monoprinting, screen printing and lino printing on clay, building these shapes and patterns up into your own unique surface decoration. Working on paper and clay slabs, learning how to translate your mark making from one material to the other.

Day Two: Emily will take you through various handbuilding techniques in clay, enabling you to build your own vessel out of the decorated clay slabs from Day 1. Drawing from the skills learnt, Emily will direct you through placement and attachment of slabs, paying particular attention to joint and edge details. Finishing with layering printing techniques on to the final vessels.

We will provide a vegan lunch both days.
