The University Graduate School supports postgraduate researchers (PGRs) at the University of Birmingham with a variety of academic, social and wellbeing activities throughout the year. Look out for our other events in our PGR Collection!
Our PGR Shut-up & Work groups can help you to work more productively, by getting you to set targets for your work and work in set blocks with regular breaks.
If you need a space that's distraction-free and gives you the structure you need to focus and get your work done, or if you'd simply like some company whilst working, join one of our Shut-up and Work groups.
Shut Up & Work is open to all postgraduate researchers (PGRs), but might be especially useful to neurodivergent PGRs who find body doubling and accountability a useful tool for productivity, and to PGRs with parental or caring responsibilities, who might appreciate a supportive online co-working space with like-minded people.

You are welcome to drop in and out of the event if you have other commitments.

This event is open only to University of Birmingham postgraduate researchers (PGR).
PGR programmes include: MPhil, MMus, MRes, MA by Research, MSc by Research, MLitt, PhD, PhD with integrated study, EngD, DDS, MD, Higher doctorates and Professional doctorates.
Registration will close 15 mins before the event start time or when tickets are sold out. We will be checking attendees against the Eventbrite registration and you may be refused entry if we have met capacity and you are not on the list. We have limited capacity so please cancel your ticket if you can no longer attend.
