Pitch In for Rotherham's Homeless - Sleep Out at New York Stadium

Rotherham United Community Trust and Shiloh Rotherham are coming together for a meaningful event to raise awareness and funds for those facing homelessness in Rotherham.

From 9pm on Saturday 17th May 2025 you can spend an unforgettable night under the stars at New York Stadium to show solidarity with and support those experiencing homelessness in Rotherham.

What do you need to do to take part?

  1. Complete the event form and pay £10 to register for your place.
  2. Set up your JustGiving fundraising page.
  3. Raise sponsorship from your friends, family and colleagues. Our suggested target is £100, but any amount you raise will make a difference. You can download our Fundraising Guide here.
  4. Read all the information sent to you by email to ensure you are ready to sleep out!

All funds raised will go towards Shiloh’s homelessness support services and Rotherham United Community Trust’s initiatives that help vulnerable people in our town.

Who are Shiloh Rotherham?

Shiloh is a charity that offers support to adults who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. We offer housing advice, education & training, creative activities and support for health and addictions. Guests engaging in support can also receive practical help including hot food, clothing, bedding and free internet and computer access. Our caring team of staff and volunteers work with partner organisations to provide meaningful opportunities that help bring about positive change in the lives of our guests. We offer a safe place where people will be accepted and supported throughout their time with us. Our Progression team works alongside guests to help them to plan for and realise a better future. All of our services are available for self-referral, but referrals from partners are also accepted.

Who are Rotherham United Community Trust?

Rotherham United Community Trust (RUCT) is the charitable arm of Rotherham United Football Club. We work with partners and communities across the borough to plan and deliver beneficial provisions to a range of groups and individuals. With the community at the heart of everything we do, our passionate team are committed to ensuring our topics are current and relevant, aiming to make a positive and lasting impact on the people we work with. We are in proud partnerships with a diverse range of external organisations within Rotherham, working together with the same mission to continue to make Rotherham a thriving community with a sense of pride for everyone. Frequently asked questions

Where exactly will be we sleeping?

The sleep out will take place on the stands and concourse, which will provide cover if the weather is bad - we will not be sleeping directly on the pitch.

What should I bring with me to the sleep out?

Bring a suitable sleeping bag, roll mat and warm clothing. You may also want to bring a torch, your mobile (fully charged!) and a book. Warm drinks will be available free of charge throughout the night. We will send you an email with more detailed information a couple of weeks before the event.

Can I bring alcohol with me?

No, you will not be permitted to bring or consume alcohol in the stadium during this event.

Will I be safe?

Yes, there will be staff security at the stadium, and only those who have registered for the event will be allowed entry. You will be responsible for any valuables you bring with you.
