This session is delivered by the Family Support Service and is open to all Hertfordshire residents. Please note, if you book a place and live outside of Hertfordshire your booking may be cancelled.

PLEASE ENSURE YOU ARE AT LEAST 25 WEEKS PREGNANT WHEN STARTING THIS COURSE, IDEALLY IT SHOULD BE COMPLETED BEFORE 35 WEEKS. If you are unsure about this, please speak to your midwife.


The session will cover:

• The support available from the Family Centre Service.

• All aspects of infant feeding.

• Emotional preparation for birth and parenthood.

• Practical aspects of caring for a baby.

• What to expect during baby's first hour.

• Support available for baby's first 5 years.

• How babies communicate.

• Healthy relationships, mother's well-being and baby's development.

• Recognising baby's well-being.

• Essential information about keeping baby safe and healthy throughout the early years.

• How many weeks pregnant should I be when I attend the course?

Ideally you should be between 25 and 34 weeks pregnant when you attend.

• Can I bring a partner?

Yes, you are more than welcome to bring a partner or friend

• I don’t have a partner, is it ok to bring someone else?

Of course, you can bring anyone you like to support you

• Do I need a ticket for my partner?

No, your partner does not need a ticket. One booking admits two people.

• Do I need to book a place for my partner?

No, your ticket reserves a place for two people

• Do I need my ticket?

No, you do not need your ticket, the facilitators have a list of attendees so know you are coming.

• Help, I have lost my ticket

No problem, the facilitators have a list of attendees so know you are coming

• My confirmation has not come through- can I still attend?

Yes. Your confirmation email may have gone into your junk folder, but do not worry, the facilitators have a list of attendees so know you are coming

• Can I park at the venue?

• I live outside of Hertfordshire; can I still attend?

Unfortunately we can only offer places to clients living within Hertfordshire.

• I am unable to attend, how do I let the host know?

• I am not longer able to attend, can I attend another session?

Please email the coordinators at hertsmere.fcsenquiries@oneymca.org who may be able to move you booking.

• Do you offer any courses specifically for dads?
