Join us for a public lecture where Professor Ima Jackson will discuss ways of finding joy within navigating the challenges of creatively building community engaged anti racism practice, in her Professorial Lecture on Tuesday, April 29.
Professor Jackson will talk about her career journey and will share examples from some of her research and projects about the mechanisms and approaches used to build community, sustain the work as well as herself.
Professor Jackson states that “The COVID pandemic and the BlackLivesMatter movement brought arguably for the first time in a generation, a global awareness of what systemic racism is and made clear to “the systems” the undeniable evidence of the impact of systemic racism in people’s lives.”
The lecture will explore the broader shift in public understanding of how racism impacts everyone, but how only some people experience its adverse effects.
Policy makers, activists, people developing their own anti-racism practice, creatives and researchers will find this lecture of interest as well as communities who want to know more about community engagement in research.
We look forward to you joining us for the lecture on Tuesday April 29, at 5.30pm (registration from 5pm) followed by a drinks reception.
Please note this event will be filmed.
