Raves & Revolutions

From the Romans, through to the industrial revolution, to the music and rave scene. How did Manchester shape itself into being the radical, diverse & ambitious city it is today? Join Actor and History Investigator Chris Hoyle, every weekend, as he takes you on a journey unlocking and celebrating Manchester's incredible past.

You will see beautiful parts of the city whilst hearing stories about radical movements, iconic Mancunians, protests, revolutions and acid house.

The walk includes a pub stop at a historic pub.

Frequently asked questions

Does the tour run in all weather?

Yes, only in extreme weather conditions will the tour be cancelled. Manchester is known for its rain, so please dress accordingly. The wet weather is part of Manchester’s story and if we cancelled it when it rains, we would never do it.

Is the tour suitable for children?

There are references to adult themes in the tour, especially when discussing the rave scene. In past tours we have had children under the age of twelve.
