Seafood Futures Forum 2025

The MSC will be hosting this year’s Seafood Futures Forum on Wednesday 7 May 2025 at 9am CEST, live from Seafood Expo Global in Barcelona. The event is free and you can attend and hear from our guest speakers, either in person or online.

Amid rising concern about the environment, younger consumers are less likely to buy and eat seafood than previous generations. Factors like cost and cooking knowledge are also influencing their choices. For the seafood industry, this shift presents a major challenge. This event will explore how to effectively engage younger audiences and show them that sustainable seafood is worth the investment, healthy, easy and good for the planet’s future.

Charlotte Langley, Chef, social media influencer, and entrepreneur. Charlotte uses her platform and reach to engage her followers on all things food, sustainability, and seafood.

Julius Palm, Deputy Managing Director, followfood, a German-based food company that has grown from start up to a midsized brand through a combination of holistic sustainability and a creative marketing approach.

Lisa Cowell, Head of Marketing at New England Seafood International (NESI) where she is responsible for driving the growth and visibility of the company’s brands in the UK market. With a deep passion for sustainability, Lisa leads the development of marketing strategies that not only promote the company’s commitment to sustainable sourcing but also resonate with today’s conscious consumers.

Directions to the Fira Barcelona

Room 4.1 is located on the upper floor within Hall 4 of the Fira Barcelona. Please enter the Fira via the South Entrance and follow the signs up the escalators to CC4. There will be ushers at the South Entrance to provide directions. We recommend giving yourself extra time, in order to arrive on time.

Note: Everyone attending in person will also need a pass to Seafood Expo Global. Please contact your local MSC contact if you’d like assistance securing a free pass to the event.

FAQs

Are any health and safety protocols in place?

The health and safety of our attendees is our primary concern. We are in constant communication with the organising team for Seafood Expo Global and the venue Fira de Barcelona and we will be following their protocols.

I'm having trouble signing up. Can you help?

If you're having trouble registering, please contact seafoodfutures@msc.org and we'll be happy to assist.

What can I bring into the event?

As the event takes place as part of Seafood Expo Global, you need to abide by the Expo’s policies and security measures. Cloakroom facilities will not be available. You may bring coats and small bags into the auditorium. For security reasons, large items will not be permitted.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

To guarantee speedy entry, we recommend you bring your ticket either electronically on your phone or as a printout. We scan your barcode to understand attendance. If you do not have your ticket then we can check off your name from our list. You will also need your Seafood Expo Global pass and government issued photo ID to gain access to the Expo.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

We can only guarantee entry to those who have registered in advance and arrive on time. The named person on the ticket must be present.

How do I attend the live event online?

Details of how to attend the live event will be shared via email with those registered.

How do I receive a recording of the event?

All registered participants will be sent a recording of the event and any reference materials via email within 2 days of the event.
