Inspire, Innovate, Educate: The Secondary Science Teacher Conference 2025

Join us for a day packed with inspiration, innovation, and hands-on learning at this year’s Secondary Science Teacher Conference. Whether you're looking for fresh ways to motivate students, sharpen practical assessment skills, or bring cutting-edge technology into your experiments, we’ve got you covered.

Engage with experts in workshops like:
🔬 Transforming Physics Experiments with Real-Time Data
🧪 Practical Skills in Science Assessments from AQA
🩺 Medical Mavericks – Careers in Health
🧠 Teaching Vocabulary in Science for Deeper Understanding
💻 Gaining Confidence with Python in the Classroom

…and many more!

The Keynote speaker for this event is Abbie C. Bray a lecturer in quantum technologies at UCL and co-director of the EPSRC CDT in Quantum Communication and Quantum Computation. Abbie will be talking about her unusual journey from her highly intersectional background into physics and work in inclusivity in science. She will focus on conversations around barriers and role models into today’s STEM landscape, as well as address issues surrounding leaky pipeline from secondary education to higher education within STEM.

Don’t miss this opportunity to network with fellow educators, explore the latest in science teaching, and take home ideas you can implement straight away.

Organized by

The Spires Science Curriculum Hub (SSCH) for Oxfordshire, West and Central Berkshire is led by Claire Hamnett and Jackie Merritt and based at Oxford Spires Academy. Supported by OTSA, the hub combines local expertise in teaching and learning in science, facilitating CPD and providing school-to-school support. SSCH offers high quality science CPD through a range of full day, afternoon and twilight sessions, either online or face to face as needed. We also work with schools on an individual basis to provide bespoke support and work closely with local leading science organisations such as RAL, STFC, Science Oxford, OUMNH and many more.

We provide a wide range of CPD for primary and secondary schools and FE institutions in Oxfordshire and Central and West Berkshire, including conferences, science lead network days, ECT training, technician training, primary science subject support and much more.
