About Self Taping for Actors


Are you positive about getting the best results from your self tape? Are you giving the director and casting director what they a require so you can book that job.

Self Taping for Actors, led by a professional filmmaker, writer, actor and educator, will give you a practical understanding of how to make a self tape that looks professional and will get you cast in the roles you want.

The workshop includes hands-on experience and insight, helping you take your self taping to the next level!

You will be lead through some practical examples and challenges that may arise from them basics of how to shoot with your phone. By the end of the day, you will gain the confidence to navigate the process of self taping on your own.


How will you be taught?

Through instructor-led demonstrations and exercises you’ll learn how identify the emotional heartbeat of the scene.

As part of this one day workshop, you will practice shooting many different self tapes and identify some of the challenges involved.

You will be given guidance and feedback during the day and come away with a clear, repeatable process that works for you. All scripts and breakdowns will be provided.

Anyone looking to hone the craft of self-taping and reach a wider international opportunity without leaving the comfort of their own home.

No previous knowledge is required, our course is designed for beginners and those with a little experience. All you need is your smartphone, so don’t forget to bring it along.

About Myles Horgan

Myles Horgan is a multi-award-winning filmmaker, writer, actor and educator. He holds an MA in Actor Training and Coaching (RCSSD) a Dip in Theatre Practice (TCD) and is a Certified Teacher in the Sanford Meisner Technique (TAI) and working towards Micheal Chekhov Technique (MCIA) Berlin. He is also a member of MICHA and the M.C (UK) Collective.

He has over 20 years’ experience in theatre film and television. Some highlights include receiving ‘Si Spencer Award’ for the short film ‘Scatterbrains’. Also acting in Ken loach’s Palm d’Or winner ‘The Wind that Shakes the Barley’ and for his script writing in animation (Galway film festival) and acting in ‘Custards Last Stand’ (Bafta).
