MEET THE SPEAKERS
Darrin Grelle
Principle Research Scientist
Darrin works with a team of psychometricians focused on developing fair, valid, and accessible cognitive ability and competency-based assessments. Darrin has been working in talent assessment for 20 years with the primary objective of developing assessments where every individual is able to put their best self forward regardless of race, ethnicity, age, gender, or disability. Darrin has published white papers and peer reviewed research on, among other topics, remote work, design considerations for mobile assessment, and the effects of practice on test performance and is currently working on a research project on how d/Deaf candidates interact with different cognitive ability tests. Darrin has a MA in Clinical Psychology from American University, and a MS and PhD in Applied Psychology from the University of Georgia.
Karim Badr
Senior Research Scientist
Karim develops innovative assessment products using psychometrics and AI to provide insights into human behavior. Karim focuses on ensuring that AI-based assessments are reliable, valid, and fair, with a particular emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). He is currently researching candidates' reactions to AI assessments and the impact of practice tests on performance, aiming to improve accessibility and reduce bias in talent acquisition. Karim has also contributed to SHL's diversity initiatives, including the Neurodiversity and Black Heritage programs. Additionally, he has authored whitepapers on talent assessment and AI, and contributed to SHL’s Global Talent Trends Report. Karim holds an MSc in Psychological Research from the University of Oxford.
