Bradway Community Hall

Normally I will sing at least something accompanied by pianist Jonathan Bickley. The piano at the hall is inadequate, so I’ll be bringing my Yamaha P45, which others can use as well. This is for amateur performance of mostly but not strictly classical music. Other possibilities allowed that fit with a mostly classical program, music that would fit in a salon or living room, such as show tunes or folk, no significant amplification, sort of open mic without the mic. Solos or small groups, the hall isn’t large enough for choirs or orchestras. Brief non musical performance such as poetry reading allowed as well.
Some spontaneous performance will be allowed, but priority will be given to those who have made prior arrangements and been accepted. I aim to be inclusive, so if you are not included one month it is likely you can be included in a later one. Jonathan is willing to accompany any that he can, but he too Is amateur, not being payed for this, so can’t guarantee to be able to sightread it on the day if the accompaniment is difficult. On the other hand, if you do make prior arrangements, he enjoys meeting new people to accompany, can probably even arrange to have some practice with you ahead of the performance.
Refreshments are bring to share at your own risk, but nothing messy. There is a kitchen with a good facility for making tea, so we will provide the tea. There are plenty of glasses as well, so you are welcome to bring other non alcoholic drinks to share.
This is a continuation of my 2nd Saturday Soirée series, changed to afternoons in hopes of improved attendance convenience and inclusivity. After the success of our first, we've decided to continue it.
-------------------------------------------
Following the success of including a playreading of the Madwoman of Challiot in the left over time from musical performances, we will be continuing it. A summary will be included of what we read last time, but for those who want to read on their on or simply want to get a copy of their own of the script, it is at https://coldreads.wordpress.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/the-madwoman-of-chaillot.pdf Musical selections so far include an aria from Meyerbeer's opera Le Prophete sung by me, a Beethoven sonata played by Dr. Tanmoy, some original compositions from Vinny and Chris, probably some piano music played by Margaret Kay, and of course anything you would like to add. As usual what won't fit in this one can go in another, all levels welcome.
