A holiday on Looe Island Nature Reserve is a much coveted experience. From sunrise over the Ranneys through to sunset over Gribbin Head, your stay on Looe Island will be one filled with peace and tranquillity.
Smuggler's is a let for two adults (and sorry, no pets). It has one bedroom (double bed) with a sofa bed in the front room.
Your boat pick up will typically be around lunchtime on your day of arrival and departure but this will be confirmed nearer the time. Cancellation or changes due to weather/sea conditions are a real possibility. We advise keeping your plans flexible by a couple of days either side of your booked dates.
Once on Looe Island expect not to return to the mainland until your departure date. This means that we ask you to bring everything you need for the entire stay. As well as food and drinks and personal welfare items we ask you to bring a double duvet cover(s), pillowcases and sheets. Double duvets and pillows are provided. Cooking is on a ceramic hob/microwave and there is a fridge in the kitchen. A BBQ is provided, please bring your own charcoal. The bathroom has a compost toilet and shower. All energy is supplied from our new renewables system and water is UV filtered. We ask people to be kind on the island's resources, in particular water consumption. There is no TV or WiFi connection, but there is a digital radio. 4G reception is reasonable from the cottage.
A full list of what is provided and what you should bring is available within the important information pages of the Cornwall Wildlife Trust website. Here you will also find guidelines regarding access/activities suitable for staying on the nature reserve. Such guidelines state that access to the sea is via the main beach only. This is to minimise disturbance to wildlife. Following the guidelines helps us to protect the Island’s wildlife.
As you'd expect, we ask the Island's guests to respect wildlife and enjoy the peace and quiet away from it all!
We look forward to welcoming you to Looe Island and wish you a pleasant stay.
See you soon!
