About this event
Each evening of Spring Into STEM 2.0 will feature two TED-style talks by expert researchers, offering interdisciplinary perspectives on meaningful applications of engineering, followed by a Q&A session and refreshments.
Our academic hosts will highlight how their research combats some of the biggest challenges our world faces, at the particle level all the way through to biocatalytic engineering and healthcare - perfect for inquisitive minds who want to explore the exciting world of STEM. You don't need to have any prior higher level education in science, technology, engineering or maths to enjoy these events - everyone is welcome.
Frequently asked questions
This event series is aimed at members of the general public - particularly those who want to learn more about interdisciplinary applications of STEM to solving some of the world's biggest problems. School groups, young people and prospective students are more than welcome to attend, too.
Two short talks from researchers with different sets of expertise, followed by a Q&A session with them and the chair. We'll be providing (non-alcoholic!) refreshments at the end of the event, which presents a chance to ask speakers more questions if you like, or chat with other audience members.
UCL East (Marshgate Building) is located at 7 Sidings Street, Stratford, London E20 2AE. If you’re travelling via Stratford Underground Station, follow the signs for the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and walk through the Westfield Shopping Centre. We're right next to the ArcelorMittal Orbital.
Spring into STEM will take place in the Marshgate Lecture Theatre. Don't worry - a member of the Spring into STEM team will meet you in the lobby of the Marshgate building and take you over. Any problems, ask the reception staff and they'll point us out to you!
The booking form will ask you about your dietary and accessibility requirements. Please complete this at least two (three, for accessibility adjustments) weeks in advance of the event, and to ensure we can make any accessibility adjustments please also get in touch engineering.srm@ucl.ac.uk.
The maximum number of tickets per booking is 10. If you'd like to book in a larger group, please contact us at engineering.srm@ucl.ac.uk. We ask that children/young people aged 14 & under be booked in and accompanied by a parent, carer, teacher, or legal guardian.
